dnata Secures 7-Year Ground Handling Licence at Rome Fiumicino, Investing €20 Million in Infrastructure Upgrades
dnata’s airport handling division has secured a seven-year ground handling licence at Rome Fiumicino Airport and committed over €20 million towards enhancing infrastructure and upgrading equipment, including a largely electric-powered fleet of ground service equipment (GSE).
This expansion nearly doubles dnata’s footprint in Italy, as its subsidiary, Airport Handling, already provides services at Milan Malpensa and Milan Linate airports.
The move is set to significantly improve both passenger and ground handling services at Italy’s busiest airport, further solidifying dnata’s position in Europe’s competitive aviation market.
Alberto Morosi, CEO of Airport Handling, expressed excitement about the company’s growth, emphasizing the dedication of their team and partners in facilitating the smooth introduction of services at Fiumicino.
Morosi commented, “We’re extremely proud to bring our high-quality, safe services to Italy’s largest airport and expand our operations in the country. I’d like to thank our team, including our skilled new colleagues, and all of our partners for their unwavering support in ensuring a seamless launch. We’re looking forward to enhancing the passenger experience and improving ground handling services at this major aviation hub.”
Meanwhile, Clive Sauvé-Hopkins, CEO of dnata Airport Operations, highlighted the strategic importance of this expansion, noting it as a significant step in dnata’s broader growth strategy.
“This expansion into Rome marks a major milestone for dnata, underscoring our commitment to long-term growth and to continuously improving our services for the benefit of our customers and stakeholders. I’m incredibly proud of the Airport Handling team’s hard work and dedication in bringing us to this point,” Sauvé-Hopkins said.
With its €20 million investment, dnata aims to boost operational efficiency at Fiumicino, aligning with sustainability goals through the adoption of electric-powered ground support vehicles.
This expansion cements dnata’s role as a leading aviation services provider in Europe, ensuring that safety, efficiency, and sustainability remain central to its operations.
