Authorities have announced the completion of airside construction at Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA), a key milestone for one of India's largest greenfield infrastructure projects.
The Navi Mumbai International Airport Limited (NMIAL) has officially informed the City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) that critical airside elements—including runways, taxiways, and associated systems—are now fully built and ready for use.
The announcement was made during a project review meeting led by CIDCO Vice Chairman and Managing Director Vijay Singhal.
Meanwhile, regulatory procedures such as obtaining the aerodrome licence from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and security clearances from the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) are progressing smoothly, with no anticipated delays.
With airside construction completed, efforts are now focused on the development of terminal facilities and landside infrastructure. Testing for Operation Readiness and Transfer (ORAT) is underway to ensure the airport is ready for smooth operations upon opening.
Airlines have started applying for take-off and landing slots, with allocations expected to be finalised soon by the DGCA. CIDCO continues to monitor the project closely to prevent any last-minute setbacks before the airport’s inauguration.
Additionally, CIDCO is coordinating with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to fast-track road connectivity improvements, aiming to complete all landside works ahead of the airport's launch.
