Cebu Pacific has introduced 13 new electric baggage tractors at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in the Philippines as part of its efforts to reduce carbon emissions and enhance ramp operations.
This initiative aligns with the airline’s broader sustainability strategy, which includes adopting fuel-efficient practices, optimizing flight routes, and transitioning to an all-neo aircraft fleet. Cebu Pacific is collaborating with New NAIA Infra Corp., the airport operator, to drive its decarbonization goals.
Xander Lao, Cebu Pacific’s Chief Commercial Officer, emphasized the airline’s commitment to sustainability, stating, “Integrating electric baggage tractors into our NAIA operations is a significant step in reducing emissions both on the ground and in the air.” He reaffirmed the company’s investment in sustainable technologies to lessen its environmental footprint.
The new baggage tractors, supplied by TLD, are equipped with high-capacity lithium batteries and fully electric drivetrains, ensuring efficient and eco-friendly performance. Alvin Ygoña, Area Sales Manager at TLD, praised Cebu Pacific’s proactive stance on decarbonization, highlighting the importance of this fleet in minimizing environmental impact and supporting airport staff.
This initiative reflects Cebu Pacific’s dedication to sustainability and aligns with the aviation industry’s goal of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
