Perth Airport has collaborated with Amadeus to upgrade its self-service facilities and integrate biometric technology, launching a globally leading seamless departure process to offer passengers an efficient and contactless travel experience. This upgrade has added nearly 100 self-service check-in kiosks and converted 40 traditional counters into Amadeus smart baggage drop units. The entire process from check-in to boarding is equipped with Amadeus biometric systems, redefining the departure flow.
Passengers of partner airlines who have bound their biometric information during self-service check-in can complete identity verification and information retrieval for subsequent luggage check-in and boarding by simply having their faces scanned, without the need to show any documents, achieving a "zero-document" travel experience.
Scott Woodward, the Chief Operating Officer of Perth Airport, said that automation and biometric technology have created a seamless journey, which not only benefits passengers but also provides support for airlines, helping the airport enhance services and cope with the growth in passenger traffic.
Sarah Samuel, an executive of Amadeus, said that after building a digital identity for passengers based on security technology, a facial scan can be completed in just a few seconds for verification. This move can enhance airport efficiency, simplify procedures and set a benchmark for the industry.
This cooperation represents a deep application of biometric technology and marks the acceleration of global airports' transformation towards a "passenger-centered" model, providing a reference for achieving a balance between aviation travel safety and efficiency.
