Aviramp Unveils New Chair Lift: Boosting Aviation Accessibility

As a global leader in aviation ramp solutions, Aviramp has recently officially launched the Aviramp ChairLifter, a solar-powered lifting device specifically designed for Electric Mobility Aids (EMAs) such as wheelchairs and mobility scooters. This innovative equipment is set to bring revolutionary changes to the aviation transportation of mobility assistance tools.

Graham Corfield, Founder and CEO of Aviramp, stated that this portable ChairLifter will significantly reduce the damage rate of mobility aids during transportation, addressing a major concern for passengers with reduced mobility. "When it comes to safely loading heavy and often fragile EMAs onto aircraft, the launch of ChairLifter is truly a game-changer for the industry," he emphasized.
According to reports, the ChairLifter is equipped with a specially designed hydraulic platform, which can automatically lift EMAs to the height of various aircraft models. Upon arrival at the destination, the aids can be directly wheeled onto the baggage conveyor belt, with no manual lifting required throughout the entire process. This automated procedure not only eliminates health and safety risks for ground staff and reduces the risk of equipment damage but also significantly improves loading efficiency.
"For many passengers with reduced mobility, the fear of their essential mobility equipment being damaged during flights is a major barrier to choosing air travel. The ChairLifter will completely solve this problem, ensuring every passenger enjoys the peace of mind they deserve while flying," Mr. Corfield added.
This lifting device boasts strong compatibility, being suitable for all aircraft models and loading systems. Its scalable system supports the linkage of multiple units, enabling simultaneous handling of multiple EMAs and further enhancing operational efficiency. More notably, the ChairLifter adopts solar-powered hydraulic technology, which not only improves energy efficiency but also achieves better environmental performance.
In terms of core performance, the ChairLifter can adjust its lifting height as needed, and the dedicated ramps equipped make the process of moving EMAs on and off aircraft extremely simple. Operated by just one person, it has a load capacity of up to 500 kilograms. Beyond its core function of transporting mobility aids, it can also be used for moving large items such as aircraft spare parts.
It is worth noting that Aviramp, based in Telford, previously launched the world's first fully sustainable solar-powered series of passenger boarding ramps and bridges, and has always been committed to providing passengers with comfortable, safe, and dignified air travel experiences. Currently, over 900 of the company's ramps are in service at airports around the world.
"The ChairLifter is both portable and practical; it can be moved manually or towed by a baggage cart. Multiple units can also be towed together, allowing ground handling teams to pre-deploy them at different aircraft stands to maximize operational efficiency," Mr. Corfield revealed. He added that even before its official launch, the device has received an enthusiastic market response and a large number of orders, "which undoubtedly proves that it accurately meets the urgent needs of the industry."
