At this year's International Ground Support Equipment Exhibition, Goldhofer officially launched its new electric unmanned aircraft, the Atlas 2 trailer. This model was developed based on the mature Phoenix platform and is specifically designed for operations in the ramp area. It aims to set new standards in terms of safety, operational efficiency, and future applicability.
Martin Riser, the director of research and development, pointed out that Atlas 2 can be compatible with a wide range of aircraft models, from ERJ 170 to B777-300ER. With just one device, it can replace multiple traditional vehicles, thereby significantly simplifying the bridge operation process. Its rodless design avoids the problems such as shear pins failure that exist in traditional mops, and is equipped with a guided nose landing gear docking system, which can actively assist the operator in completing the correct docking and automatically verify the aircraft model information.
In terms of safety, Atlas 2 can automatically adjust the maximum braking and traction force according to the type of vehicle it serves, effectively reducing the load on the front landing gear and enabling more gentle and smooth operation. The vehicle is also equipped with a single-rod emergency shutdown device, an automatic lock to prevent accidental movement, and a 360-degree panoramic view, ensuring that the entire towing process is safe and controllable.
This model adopts a modular architecture, based on standardized chassis, drive systems, battery packs and docking modules. It can be flexibly configured according to the specific needs of customers and is capable of adapting to the evolution of future new technologies and operational scenarios.
Currently, Atlas 2 is on display at the Goldhofer booth (P408) at the Las Vegas International Ground Support Equipment Expo (held from September 16th to 18th).
