SATS Singapore Hub has awarded contracts to Guinault, TLD, and Weihai Guangtai, covering over 200 firm orders for new motorised ground support equipment (GSE). The announcement was made by the company in a LinkedIn statement, noting that the contracts form part of its ongoing initiative to renew and expand the GSE fleet deployed at Singapore’s Changi Airport.

As one of the world’s largest air cargo handling service providers and Asia’s leading airline caterer, SATS signed the contracts on the sidelines of the Asian Ground Handling International trade show and conference, which was held in Singapore earlier this week.

The enhancements to the GSE fleet include electric pushback tractors across small- to mid-size categories, new electric skyloaders, and passenger stairs designed to serve aircraft at remote bays without aerobridges. These investments not only support SATS’ ambitions for hub renewal and expansion but also accelerate its decarbonisation efforts across targeted GSE fleets, enabling cleaner and more environmentally friendly operations.

A key focus of the new GSE is the integration of the latest safety, performance, and digital features. These upgrades will allow SATS to deliver safer, more efficient, and reliable services to its customers at Changi Airport—one of the world’s busiest air hubs.

The newly inked contracts are part of SATS’ over S$250 million investment in its Singapore Hub, aimed at upgrading ground operations and cargo handling infrastructure at Changi Airport. These strategic measures will enhance safety and operational reliability, optimise aircraft turnaround times, and support the growing cargo volumes at the airport through the mid-2030s, when the new Terminal 5 and Changi East Industrial Zone are expected to become operational.

Additionally, the experience and insights gained from operating these new assets in Singapore will be shared across SATS’ global network, which spans 27 countries. This knowledge exchange will help strengthen GSE fleet management and operational capabilities across the entire organisation, aligned with its #OneSATS vision.

In closing, SATS expressed its gratitude to Singapore’s aviation ecosystem, including Changi Airport Group, the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore, and all its industry partners for their support.
