Swissport and Aurrigo will launch an autonomous technology pilot at Zurich Airport, a collaborative step to revolutionize aviation ground operations. The project will proceed in two phases, starting with Swissport deploying the AutoSim digital simulation platform.
AutoSim will let Swissport simulate ground operations virtually, identify automation opportunities, and support data-driven infrastructure and operational planning. Next, a live trial of Aurrigo’s autonomous Auto-DollyTug will follow.
Featuring 360° obstacle detection, advanced situational awareness and automated ULD loading/unloading, the Auto-DollyTug enhances ground handling safety and efficiency. Swissport and Aurrigo will also assess other airports for future deployment.
A key partnership term: Swissport gains exclusive operational rights to Aurrigo’s autonomous solutions at its co-operated facilities, plus early access to Aurrigo’s expanding autonomous portfolio (including a remote control platform).
Swissport CEO Warwick Brady noted: “Integrating autonomous tech redefines ground handling, boosting safety, efficiency and supporting our global airline/airport partners’ sustainability goals.”
Aurrigo CEO Professor David Keene added: “This partnership is pivotal to scaling autonomous innovation in aviation, reflecting shared commitments to long-term collaboration, innovation and operational excellence.”
