A New Benchmark for Airport Shuttle Buses: Yutong Advances in Technology And Environmental Protection

Yutong Bus, a leading division of Chinese manufacturer Yutong Group, has delivered more than 1,000 apron buses worldwide. These vehicles are now operating at over 70 airports across 30 countries, including the UK, Spain, Italy, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar.

According to William Wang, an account manager at Yutong, each vehicle undergoes comprehensive testing before delivery. This includes evaluations such as side impact resistance, rear-end collision performance, and road simulation, ensuring both safety and durability.

Among the flagship models are the AB14 and its electric counterpart, the AB14E, which accommodate 110 and 114 passengers respectively. Both buses feature a reinforced enclosed structure, innovative crash-resistant battery compartments, multilayer insulation with steel plate protection, and nitrogen-based safety systems. These design features distinguish Yutong’s apron buses from others on the market.

As airport ground equipment rapidly evolves in terms of technology and environmental standards, Yutong is committed to staying ahead. The company plans to integrate the same advanced technology and production processes used in its premium road buses into its apron bus line—ensuring consistent quality and reliability.

To support smooth adoption and operation, Yutong offers on-site commissioning and training services. This enables operators to gain hands-on experience and the necessary technical skills for maintenance and efficient use.

One growing priority for airport operators is real-time data monitoring. Yutong’s intelligent system allows customers to track vehicle performance metrics, optimise battery usage, and improve driver efficiency—ultimately reducing operating costs.
