Over the past two years, Celebi Aviation has ramped up its workforce by over 200 employees, a strategic move that has underpinned its remarkable operational growth at Budapest Airport. The company has achieved an impressive 85.7% year-on-year surge in cargo volumes, coupled with a 15.9% increase in the number of flights it serves.
The robust growth of air cargo, driven by the booming e-commerce sector, has been a key catalyst for Celebi’s expansion. To meet the unique demands of this fast-growing segment, the company has optimized its import procedures, ensuring seamless and efficient cargo handling.
In a bid to further strengthen its cargo handling capabilities, Celebi took over a dedicated 3,500-square-metre expansion zone within the airport’s Cargo City last February. This expansion was complemented by the addition of a 2,000-square-metre uncovered cargo handling area. The combined capacity enhancement has significantly boosted the company’s ability to manage peak freighter operations and effectively prevent cargo backlogs.
Beyond cargo services, Celebi has also upgraded its passenger service offerings. In November, the company unveiled a renovated lounge equipped with enhanced amenities, designed to deliver a more comfortable and pleasant experience for travelers.
Technology has been at the core of Celebi’s operational upgrade at Budapest Airport. The company has rolled out two key systems: its proprietary warehouse management solution, Cargocel, and IKARUS, a specialized ground handling service recording system. The implementation of IKARUS has brought multiple operational benefits, including streamlined invoicing processes, improved overall efficiency, real-time operational tracking, simplified document handling, and a notable reduction in cargo processing times.
