Gatwick Ground Services (GGS) has been reaping significant operational benefits since deploying eight Rollertrack Conveyors from Power Stow last year, with the equipment playing a pivotal role in upgrading the airport’s ground handling workflows. The Rollertrack Conveyors have delivered a suite of improvements, including reduced manual baggage handling, enhanced workplace safety, optimized aircraft turnaround times, and more efficient resource allocation. Notably, the system has been a key enabler for BA Euroflyer – a British Airways subsidiary operating Airbus A320 and A321 fleets on short-haul routes from Gatwick to European and North African destinations. BA Euroflyer recently transitioned from containerised baggage operations to a bulk loading configuration, a strategic shift aimed at boosting fuel efficiency, cutting overall aircraft weight, and overcoming the lack of containerised handling capacity at certain destination airports. The Rollertrack Conveyor emerged as an ideal fit for this new setup, particularly given the high volumes of leisure-focused baggage transported on these routes. Bulk loading baggage inside narrowbody aircraft has long posed physical challenges for ramp staff, who face constraints such as limited cabin height, tight access spaces, and heavy workloads that create a strenuous work environment. Mark Gower, Managing Director of GGS, highlighted that working in these confined spaces and manually handling baggage remain major challenges and risk factors, as even minor injuries like a strained back can escalate into legal claims. The Rollertrack system was introduced as a targeted solution to mitigate these risks and improve the working conditions for ground personnel. Since the system’s implementation and the accompanying modification of A320 and A321 cabin floors, GGS has recorded a sharp decline in staff personal injuries. However, the adoption process was not without hurdles. Unlike the supportive reception the system received from staff
