GSE (Ground Service Equipment) manufacturer Mallaghan has officially launched SkyBelt, a new type of electric luggage conveyor vehicle that will be produced at its factories in Dungannon, Northern Ireland and Atlanta, Georgia, USA. SkyBelt represents a significant advancement in the innovation of airport ground support equipment.
SkyBelt is equipped with Mallaghan's patented lifting system and a complete set of advanced sensor technologies, significantly reducing the risk of accidental damage to the aircraft during ground operations. Its lifting system can achieve vertical lifting without lateral offset, thereby avoiding the potential risk of contact with the machine body and simplifying the operation process.
This equipment is equipped with an automatic lifting function to prevent contact with the aircraft during loading and unloading. The automatic altitude adjustment system can automatically track and adjust to the height of the cargo hold floor according to the changes in altitude during aircraft unloading, without the need for operator intervention throughout the process. These functions significantly enhance security and operational convenience.
As an electric conveyor belt vehicle, SkyBelt offers longer driving range and remote fault diagnosis capabilities, and has passed rigorous tests, fully demonstrating its market competitiveness.
Joe Griffith, the Chief Commercial Officer of Mallaghan, said: "SkyBelt will bring critical value to customers. It not only reduces the risk of aircraft damage and maintenance costs, but also enhances environmental performance, which is particularly important in the current context where the aviation industry increasingly emphasizes sustainable development."
SkyBelt has been put into use at major US airports including Seattle (SEA), Los Angeles (LAX), and Laguardia (LGA), and plans are in place to promote it at other airports. This product adopts a modular and robust chassis design, equipped with an AC traction motor and an integrated electric parking brake system. It can also be optionally equipped with anti-collision systems, foldable/fixed handrails, cargo guardrails and other configurations to meet the diverse needs of customers.
