Macau International Airport (CAM) has announced plans to expand its ground service provider network, driven by three decades of steady traffic growth that now supports the introduction of additional service partners.
Moving beyond its traditional single-operator model, CAM is transitioning to a multi-concession framework: two concessions will be allocated for ground handling and aircraft maintenance services, with a separate concession for cargo and mail operations—including services at the airport’s Hengqin Upstream Cargo Terminal.
To implement this restructuring, CAM launched a Request for Proposal (RFP) for ground handling and aircraft maintenance services on 3 September, with submissions due by 12:00 noon Macau time on 9 December. The RFP prioritizes providers capable of delivering safe, efficient operations to meet the airport’s growing demands.
For cargo and mail services, CAM is first conducting an Invitation for Pre-Qualification (IPQ), closing at 12:00 noon Macau time on 22 September. Applicants must demonstrate proven capabilities in cargo and mail handling to qualify. Successful pre-qualified candidates will advance to the formal RFP stage, after which CAM will select a single provider to manage its cargo and mail operations.
The shift reflects CAM’s strategic response to sustained traffic growth, aiming to enhance service capacity and operational flexibility through diversified partnerships.
