Menzies Aviation’s new cargo warehouse in Maputo has officially come online, enabling the company to deliver high-quality, efficient and secure services to its airline partners—including launch customers Airlink and Qatar Airways. This milestone facility marks a significant upgrade to Menzies’ service portfolio in the region, reinforcing its commitment to supporting the growth of East Africa’s air cargo industry.
A grand ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on Thursday, 5 September, to commemorate the opening. Menzies’ Senior Vice President for the Middle East, Africa and Asia (MEAA) region, AlAnood AlSuwaidi, presided over the event, joined by distinguished guests from key industry stakeholders. Attendees included representatives from Aeroportos de Moçambique (Mozambique Airports), the Civil Aviation Institute, Mozambique Customs, as well as Menzies’ airline partners.
Menzies has maintained a continuous presence at Maputo Airport since 2018. Initially operating under the banner of National Aviation Services (until 2022), the company began with lounge services before gradually expanding its offerings to include Meet and Assist services, followed by comprehensive ground handling solutions. The launch of the new cargo warehouse represents the latest phase of its strategic expansion in the market.
Commenting on the milestone, AlAnood AlSuwaidi stated: “We are delighted to inaugurate our new cargo warehouse in Mozambique. This state-of-the-art facility will enable us to deliver best-in-class services to our airline customers, while also contributing to the development of East Africa’s air cargo sector. This launch is a key milestone in Menzies’ global cargo expansion strategy, which has seen us steadily grow our footprint across the world.”
