Textron GSE has introduced its new Premier TT4000 tanker truck, designed to streamline de-icing operations at airports by enabling ground crews to refill active de-icers directly on the ramp. The vehicle aims to reduce downtime and improve productivity in busy airport environments.
With a 4,000-gallon (15,140-liter) capacity, the TT4000 can replenish up to three de-icers in a single trip, thanks to its dual 1,500-gallon (5,678-liter) de-icing fluid tanks and a 1,000-gallon (3,785-liter) anti-ice fluid tank. The tanks are constructed from 12-gauge A304 stainless steel, ensuring safe glycol storage in all temperatures.
The truck’s high-speed pumping system can refill a de-icer in just 10 minutes, utilizing a hydraulic Gorman Rupp pump (200 gallons/minute for de-icing) and a self-priming diaphragm pump (75 gallons/minute for anti-icing). It also includes 25-foot retractable hoses for efficient fluid transfer and a suction-fill system for quick tank refilling.
Built on a Freightliner M2 106 chassis with a Cummins L9 diesel engine, the TT4000 is speed-limited to 30 mph for ramp safety. According to Morgan Gresens, VP of Textron GSE, the vehicle offers a reliable and efficient solution to minimize de-icer delays and keep flights on schedule, addressing key challenges in modern ground handling.
