Turkish ground support equipment (GSE) manufacturer Timsan offers a broad range of passenger stairs, including towable, self-propelled, electric, solar-powered, and truck-mounted models. These products accommodate boarding needs for aircraft ranging from 1.7 to 8.4 meters in height.
According to Haldun Aksoy, chairman of Timsan’s board, towable stairs remain the most in-demand, particularly at smaller airports where they represent 70% of total sales. Self-propelled and truck-mounted models make up 20% and 10%, respectively.
While sustainability trends are gaining traction, diesel-powered units continue to dominate Timsan’s customer base. However, in sunnier regions, solar-powered stairs are increasingly favored due to their cost efficiency.
To meet evolving industry needs, Timsan integrates modern technologies into its equipment. All mobile stairs are equipped with dual control systems—a conventional system and a CAN bus system introduced in 2020. Safety features such as the Aircraft Safe Approaching System (ASAS), used since 2014, and a specially developed hydraulic drive approach system, ensure safe and precise docking with aircraft.
With over four decades of GSE experience, Timsan continues to adapt by prioritizing cost-effectiveness, environmental compliance, and technological innovation.
