  • Celebi Aviation has introduced the fully AI-powered product CHAMP A2Z Scan, which handles documents such as air waybills. This has reduced the time for manual entry and verification from 3 minutes to 45 seconds, and the data can be automatically synchronized to its freight management system.
  • Swissport has completed its first fully electric ground handling operation for an aircraft in Switzerland, covering passenger embarkation and disembarkation, baggage and cargo loading and unloading, and aircraft maintenance. This operation utilized electric baggage tractors, aircraft tugs, boarding stairs, and belt loaders, effectively reducing carbon emissions.
  • The Zero Carbon Turn project led by Exeter Airport, in collaboration with several universities and enterprises, completed on-site tests of hydrogen-powered ground support equipment at the airport with the support of the UK Civil Aviation Authority. It successfully utilized hydrogen-powered trucks, luggage carts, and hybrid-powered ground power supplies to complete refueling operations for commercial aircraft, setting several firsts in hydrogen application in the UK.
  • Newcastle Airport’s on-site partner Samson Aviation has invested in new cargo equipment to handle larger and specialised consignments on both passenger and cargo aircraft, expanding the airport’s cargo types (including heavy machinery, aircraft components and luxury vehicles) and supporting the region’s 4,000-tonne annual cargo trade.
  • The cargo business at Vienna Airport witnessed a remarkable growth in 2024. The air cargo volume in the first half of the year reached 141,118 tons (an increase of 20,861 tons compared to the previous year), with the pharmaceutical cargo volume growing by 8.2%. In July, the cargo volume was 24,808 tons, representing a year-on-year increase of 21.1% and exceeding the pre-pandemic level in 2019 by 12%. The increase in passenger volume has released the cargo capacity of the belly hold. The cargo volume in the belly hold increased by 47% year-on-year in the first half of the year. The relevant airport officials stated that this confirms the effectiveness of their strategy and consolidates their position as a global core hub for air cargo.
  • Worldwide Flight Services (WFS) has deployed Goldhofer Sherpa E6 electric cargo towing trucks (supplied by TCR) at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport to support cargo handling for over 50 airlines.
  • Dnata has strengthened its cooperation with EasyJet in Switzerland and has received a new ground handling service order from Zurich Airport. This will provide passenger, apron and baggage services for 3,800 flights and 640,000 passengers annually for the latter. Previously, since 2022, the two parties have been conducting aircraft deicing service cooperation at Geneva Airport. Dnata will continue to invest resources to enhance the value of the service.
  • Menzies Aviation's new cargo warehouse in Maputo has been officially put into use. It can provide high-quality, efficient and safe services to its airline partners, including Airlink of South Africa and Qatar Airways.
  • Swissport has introduced a new procurement policy to promote the electrification of ground support equipment (GSE). It has clearly stated that from January this year, various types of operation vehicles must be purchased as electric models. The plan is to achieve 100% electric procurement of GSE by 2027 and an electricization rate of 55% by 2032.
  • Vestergaard has launched the OPTIM-ICE semi-automatic deicing system (the initial version), which is mainly designed for the wings and stabilizers of narrow-body aircraft. In the future, through software upgrades, the system will enhance its automation level and achieve full aircraft coverage.
  • SAASA invested 4.2 million US dollars in TLD to purchase ground support equipment (GSE). The equipment will be delivered in two installments: 20 units (worth 2.2 million US dollars) will be delivered this year, and 10 units (worth 2 million US dollars) will be delivered next year. The first piece of equipment has already been received.
  • Airport Handling has launched a brand-new cargo facility at the Milan Malpensa Airport Cargo Complex. The facility covers an area of 10,000 square meters and has a capacity of 100,000 tons of cargo per year. It is expected to commence operations in September 2027 and create 200 job positions.
  • Talma has entered into a partnership with Flybondi, the first low-cost airline in Argentina, to provide comprehensive airport services including ground handling, passenger services and aircraft maintenance for its two weekly flights connecting Iguazu and Lima.
  • Munich Airport has entered into a partnership with TractEasy, aiming to promote the application of autonomous cargo towing technology at the airport. This collaboration marks an important milestone in the integration of ground support automation technologies at large international airports.
  • Menzies Aviation has successfully obtained the Cargo iQ certification. Cargo iQ is dedicated to establishing and implementing quality standards for the global air freight industry. Its members include over 60 institutions from various fields such as aviation and freight forwarding.
  • KLM has introduced the Goldhofer Phoenix AST2E electric trailer through TCR leasing to replace the diesel models. This is an important step for it towards achieving a net-zero emissions goal for ground operations by 2030. This trailer can tow various aircraft types ranging from small planes to Boeing 777s, featuring zero emissions and low noise advantages. The upgraded suspension system enhances the driver's comfort, and at the same time, it will improve the working environment and air quality on the apron.

  • The VR training module of Draxon has been officially certified by IATA, making it the first and only company in the world to receive this certification and officially obtaining the qualification to provide such solutions to airlines and ground service operators worldwide.
  • BGS has renewed the fuel supply contract for Riga and Palanga airports with airBaltic. The agreement takes effect from November 1, 2025 and lasts until the end of the year. The cooperation between the two parties began in 2015. This renewal is a recognition of BGS's professional competence and service quality. BGS will continue to optimize its services and support airBaltic in achieving its development goals.
  • ATL Partners has completed the acquisition of SkyMark, an aircraft refueling vehicle manufacturer, and Rampmaster, an aviation refueling solution enterprise. The two companies have merged to create an integrated platform for aviation solutions, refueling services, and aviation ground support equipment (GSE). Both retain their own brands for operation, and the original core management team remains in place and will transfer their equity to the merged company. This acquisition is the first investment of ATL's third fund.
