  • FLYYO Appoints BGS As Its Handling And Fuel Services Provider
    FLYYO has entered into a partnership with BGS. The latter will provide ground handling services for FLYYO at Vilnius International Airport, as well as refueling services for Vilnius and Kaunas International Airports. This collaboration is an important step for FLYYO to enter the Lithuanian market. The airline has also launched two weekly flights between Vilnius and Ben Gurion International Airport in Tel Aviv. Both parties' managers are confident in this partnership. BGS stated that it will assist FLYYO in its expansion in Europe and globally. FLYYO recognized BGS's professional service capabilities and looks forward to the project being successfully implemented and operated.

  • Swissport Partners with Aurrigo for Autonomous Tech Pilot at Zurich Airport
    Swissport and Aurrigo will conduct a pilot project on autonomous driving technology at Zurich Airport. The project will be implemented in two phases: first, the AutoSim digital simulation platform will be deployed to simulate ground handling operations, explore the potential for automation and support data-driven planning; then, the Aurrigo automatic tractor-trailer Auto-DollyTug will undergo on-site testing (this equipment has functions such as 360° obstacle detection, which can enhance ground handling safety and efficiency).

    Air China Cargo has renewed its contract with WFS for ramp and warehouse handling services at Liege Airport, covering the airline’s weekly Boeing 777 and Airbus A330 freighter flights from Chengdu, Hangzhou and Shanghai. The service caters to e-commerce cargo imported into Europe and general cargo exported back to China. This partnership contributes to Liege Airport’s robust growth, which registered a 16% rise in 2024 and continued expansion in Q1 2025 with 6.2% more cargo flights and 5.6% higher throughput. WFS emphasized its investment in local facilities and tailored e-commerce handling capabilities to meet customer needs, and expressed gratitude for Air China Cargo’s continued trust.

  • Qantas Hit with Record Fine Over Illegal Ground Handling Outsourcing
    In 2020, Qantas illegally outsourced ground handling operations at 10 Australian airports, leading to the dismissal of 1,820 in-house staff and violating the Fair Work Act 2009. After a five-year legal battle that escalated to the High Court (which upheld the illegality of Qantas’ conduct), the Federal Court imposed a record A$90 million fine on the airline and ordered it to fund a A$120 million compensation pool for affected workers. Qantas CEO Vanessa Hudson issued a formal apology, but the Transport Workers’ Union (TWU) dismissed the apology as insincere, arguing it was only prompted by the heavy penalty. The TWU also called for improved aviation worker standards and the establishment of a Safe and Secure Skies Commission to prioritise community interests over corporate profits.
